Knock! Knock! Mormon Missionaries Calling

Usually, you are preoccupied in some way and there is a knock at the door. You open it and two smartly dressed young men are standing there smiling, equipped with clipboards, and calling themselves elders. They want to talk to you about the importance of families. You soon realize that they are part of a religious group of some sort as they refer to "their church." You ask if they are Christians and they reply "yes." They talk about Jesus, God, the Holy Ghost, salvation, and use the Bible. Before long they are in your home and want to do a study with you. They are, of course, the Mormon missionaries.
But are they giving the householder an honest impression of who they really are and what they really represent? Most people do not realize just how different the Mormon Church is (when compared to other churches) until they have become more deeply involved.

Hi Vince.
I appreciate your blog and website. I just thought I'd point out that I don't use it as a witnessing tool for missionaries. The reason for my interest in your site is much more urgent! As a backslidden christian I became romantically involved with an inactive mormon man and now although I am struggling to make my way back to the Lord, I am caught in this tricky situation of not wanting to leave him behind but striving towards what God has for me. Keep up the good work and don't forget their are those of us out there who are so much more strongly connected to LDS than just being aggravated by the annoyance of missionaries at the door! Not a criticism just a a cry for help and a well done!!!!

Hi, apologies for the delay in response (Christmas period and work and family commitments). Hope you are still out there.

Please be aware that the LDS missionaries are devoted to making converts to the Mormon Church.

I have heard of people getting romantically involved with them before. Many years back, some Christian female friends of mine thought they were finding boyfriends in them and the missionaries seemed to go along with this for a while as it enabled them to continue to be made welcome when they called. However, eventually, these poor girls became very confused by what the missionaries were telling them - basically that their church wasn't true (Satanic even) and that the Bible couldn't be trusted. The relationships ended after a while. So I would say be aware that there is an agenda there which may not really be romance.

If it is true romance the Mormon Church will remove the young man from the area and on to another part of the country.

As a backslidden Christian you will be more susceptible to their doctrines and suggestions. Is it worth compromising your faith in Christ for a relationship?

Hi Vince,

I recently have read your book! Greatly encouraging and thank God for the salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ! I have had some regular visits from Mormon missionaries! One of the missionaries seem very interested in what a pentecostal Christian believes in. (That is what he calls us even though I know that the "pentecostal" title is only a name and nothing special, after all we are all in the body of Christ)I have done my research and found a few contradictory faults in the book of Mormon, and also found a lot of verses that proves there doctrines to be wrong! May the Holy Spirit anoint this website that people who read it are captured by it and saved through the Blood of Christ. May Jesus' love for us reflect from this web page and may the Lord our God bless you!

Bring on the Mormons!
